Do you have the feeling, that the humor and satire is disappearing from everyday life?
Well, I do. It may be because I don’t understand the language properly, or – which is more probable – that I don’t understand the context.
Some of you would remember the contests from around 2005 “The Greatest whichever-nation”. So I’m Czech and the first round was won by a fictional character Jára Cimrman. Of course, he couldn’t take the title, but – imho – he was the prove, how much we need humor, the clever one, puns, based on similarity of words or sounds, based on some well known facts … nowadays often misunderstood.
Of course, even if you take some proverbs literary, you can end up in looong discussions trying to explain what it means (or what you meant), but the counterpart can’t understand, because he/she is much younger/older than you or comes from another part of the world where something else is considered “normal”.
Have you got any idea, how we can explain to each other, that all human beings have the same basic needs and that we should connect, not disconnect?
Thank you!
